Registering Domain Names
DA2C can arrange the registration of domain names for charities or not-for-profit organisations. Initial registration is normally for two years with subsequent registration fees charged annually. The registration will be made in the name of the client organisation itself and the registering company will contact the organisation by e-mail regarding the necessary annual payments.

It is then the responsibility of the organisation to arrange these payments as they fall due. This payment is normally arranged via the internet using secure services. Registration of the name normally only secures the name with associated redirection to the clients e-mail and web host (see below).

Web Site Hosting and e-mail Services
DA2C can provide advice and support for hosting of the clients web site. This will normally be achieved by arranging a direct dial-in number to an Internet Service Provider (ISP) who will offer both web space and e-mail services. The particular ISP service we would recommend depends upon the clients requirements. It should be noted that it is possible to arrange web-based e-mail, allowing staff to work from home.

Web Site Design & Support
Contrary to popular belief web design is fundamentally quite simple and for the majority of sites only the basics will be required. This site is an example of an ultra-basic web site. We normally seek to provide some training to allow the individual or organisation to modify the site using in-house resources. We are currently working on a software package to support this objective. We do offer a service creating web pages and entire sites for our clients however complex sites employing on-line databases and e-commerce facilities require a major investment of our time and resources. We can provide a fully functioning site with normal updating facilities free of charge, for more complex site we would normally offer the services of one of our clients who is working as a web designer. In this latter case the contract is between the two clients, DA2C will continue to provide impartial advice and general support.

e-mail
e-mail is one of the most useful facilities provided on the Internet. Most e-mail services are offered by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) as part of their internet access package however it is sometimes preferable to use web-based e-mail which does not require the user to dial-in from a specific telephone number. If the user is not normally at one location (such as an office) the web-based approach offers several advantages. DA2C can offer advice and practical support in establishing e-mail services for individuals and organisations. This includes arranging redirection of e-mails from the organisation address to individual personal mailboxes and support for clients wishing to use web-based e-mail services.

Training
DA2C can offer individual training on using the internet and also on web-site building and maintenance. The former normally takes the form of one or two lessons with subsequent telephone hotline support for a given period. The latter is mainly of use to organisations, although we are happy to help individual clients, and inevitably involves practice. DA2C usually provides an on-disk training package, free-ware tool kit and telephone hotline support for a given period.

Accessibility Auditing
DA2C can complete a thorough audit of an existing web site to ensure it complies with all current regulations and legislation. The client receives a detailed report giving details of the relevant legislation and recommendations from the various bodies currently involved in promoting accessibility. Guidance on any remedial measures of alterations to methodology are provided and, under certain circumstances, DA2C staff can rebuild sections of the site to bring them into compliance with the current legislation.
